Tatas the epitome of trust By Madhav Joshi
Tatas the epitome of trust By Madhav Joshi
Some companies aim to create wealth for their shareholders but beyond that, there are very few who earn the respect of the people by creating wealth for the society without compromising on integrity, quality, trust and other values. Two-thirds of the Tata Group is owned by various Tata Welfare Trusts, so naturally two- thirds of the profits are spent on social welfare. *** On November 26, 2008, 11 Taj staff members were killed while trying to evacuate 1,500 guests from the Taj Mahal hotel. Perhaps only the Tata group employees would save first the lives of the guests regardless of their own lives. They had no training how to deal with such a terrorist attack, but each employee became a selfless, fearless leader. Ratan Tata himself took risk and stood on the road for hours with the police and commandos during those fateful three days. A leader like Ratan Tata and a fearless staff like Taj are rarely seen!
